Brad and the crew at The Guitar Shop are great! I bought a Vintage Brand guitar a few years ago from The Guitar Shop and liked it so much, I bought a second one. When that one had a slight issue, I brought it in and they took care of it within 48 hours! Excellent service. I HIGHLY recommend The Guitar Shop!

Every Repair Done on Our Bench
Repair work here is done in the building by the owner, a working luthier, not packed up and sent to a third party. That covers the whole range, from a restring through fret leveling, refrets, bridge regluing, and crack repair. It also means the person who sets your guitar up is the person you can ask about it when you come to pick it up.

Frequently Asked Questions
The usual signs are strings sitting so high they tire your hand, buzzing on certain frets, notes that play in tune open but go sharp up the neck, sharp fret ends catching your fingers, or an instrument that will not hold tune. A brand new guitar that has never been adjusted is another common one.
You bring the instrument in and we look at it with you at the counter. We tell you what it needs, what that costs off the posted rate sheet, and you decide from there. The work then happens on the bench here rather than going out to a third party.
The biggest factor in a repair price is the instrument itself. A 4 string bass setup is $55 while an acoustic 12 string is $75, because more strings mean more nut and saddle work. Bridge style matters too, with a Floyd style tremolo at $85. Fretwork is priced by scope, and bound necks cost more than unbound. Ask about your guitar.
The bench work centers on guitars and basses, which covers setups, fretwork, structural repair, and electronics across both. Bring anything in and we will tell you honestly whether it is something we handle. Plenty of repair customers first came through the door for guitar lessons or to buy strings.
It depends on the job and on what is already on the bench. A restring is quick. A full setup, fret level, or refret takes longer, and structural work like a bridge reglue needs glue time that cannot be rushed. We give you a realistic estimate when you drop the instrument off rather than a blanket promise.
Bring it to the counter at the shop in Rosemount Market Square during open hours. The bench is in the same building, so the person who looks at it with you is the person who works on it. That same building runs piano lessons and sells used instruments.
